We've compiled a list of some of the questions we get asked the most:
Absolutely not! Our activities and programs are open to the public. It is important to book ahead of time to ensure that there are open spots available.
Unfortunately, we cannot allow pets on our programs (although we do love dogs and are pet friendly at Earthshine Lodge). Our activities are not suited for pets, especially those that involve other animals (like llamas!). We want to be respectful of all of our guests, including those who may not be comfortable around animals. However, your furry friend is more than welcome to sit and enjoy the views with you in our outdoor areas around the lodge (the lodge and decks are not pet-friendly). Please understand that our activities require advance planning and staffing and can be significantly affected by last minute cancellations.
Guest cancellations are accepted up to 48 hours in advance for llama hikes and 24 hours in advance for all other activities. Reservation changes or cancellations made before these time restrictions receive a full refund (minus the 3% booking fee). Changes, cancellations, and/or early departures under 48 hours in advance of llama hikes and 24 hours for other programs, will result in the forfeiture of your payment.
**Covid-19 exception – we are being more flexible with our refund policy in order to ensure that people do not travel if they are feeling sick or have potentially been in contact with someone carrying Covid-19. If you need to cancel at the last minute due to covid-19 concerns, we will offer you a credit for your reservation that can be used in the future towards anything at Earthshine Lodge.
We want to make sure that you enjoy your Earthshine experience, but sometimes the weather just doesn’t cooperate. Activities continue rain or shine. However, if we feel that the weather conditions will interfere with guests safety or are not conducive to a great experience (storms, heavy rain, or icy conditions), we will evaluate on a case by case basis. If we need to cancel an activity due to inclement weather, we will contact you as soon as possible and issue a full refund or reschedule depending on the guest’s preference. Due to our location, weather is often difficult to predict so we continuously monitor the conditions and will communicate any changes to our programming to you via email and/or phone.
Most guests are able to get cell service depending on the carrier.
Yes! Keep in mind that we’re at an elevation of 3,000 feet on top of a mountain, so the internet is limited to web browsing and email. We call it “outdoor adventure friendly” – it will not support streaming or video meetings.
Masks are currently required in North Carolina per Governor Roy Cooper’s order. We ask all guests to wear a face covering in shared indoor and covered spaces, including hallways, dining rooms (upstairs and downstairs), the gift shop and the covered deck. Bonus points if you double mask!
Exceptions to mask wearing include: while eating or drinking, spending time in your room, walking around the property, and relaxing in our outdoor spaces.
Individuals who qualify for an exemption from North Carolina’s mask requirement will not be asked to cover their faces. Please let us know if this applies to you.
Our grounds and facilities are smoking-free zones. You will be charged a $150 fee for smoking on property, including on lodge room balconies.
