Earthshine Lodge has a legacy of providing outdoor education to school groups from all over the eastern United States. Our outdoor education experiences enhance school curriculum by providing memorable learning adventures for all types of learning environments – public, private, Montessori, Waldorf, virtual, and homeschooling groups, etc.

Outdoor Discovery Program

Experience team building, self empowerment, and personal development in our wilderness classroom. Students develop critical learning and leadership skills by working together to overcome challenges.

Earth Explorers Program

Discover how elements, plants, and animals work together to shape our world. Students will explore earth science working in action and discover a diverse range of natural environments in our immersive outdoor classroom

Explore Appalachia Program

Explore the history of the Blue Ridge mountains through the story of the native people and immigrant settlers - the challenges they faced and the events that shaped their lives. Ideal for NC 4th Grade students!

Fully Customizable Program

Can't decide? We will work with you to mix and match from our different programs and our diverse range of staff specialties to create your own hand-crafted, unforgettable, and educational adventure on the mountaintop.

Discovery

Grades 5th to 12th
Experience a journey of learning through aerial adventures, team building quests, scavenger hunts, wilderness challenges, and more.

Earth Explorers

Grades 2nd to 6th
Students journey to multiple stations, each one focused on a different scientific principle. Science topics include geology, the water cycle, photosynthesis, animal adaptations, ecosystems and the food web.

Explore Appalachia

Grades 2nd to 5th
Hands-on history activities include discovering life as immigrant settlers, with blacksmithing, candle-making, spinning and weaving, and cooking as well as life as a Cherokee native, with archery, pottery, corn grinding, and nature skills.

Fully Customizable Program

All ages/ grades
For those educators seeking specific lessons to enhance the classroom experience.
Works well for small group learning pods, home schooling groups, etc.

For over 40 years, Earthshine Lodge has been offering exceptional outdoor field trip experiences for students of all ages.

Curriculum

Earthshine’s programs are designed to incorporate state educational standards in science and social studies. Our programs are integrated to core competency standards and are an enriching experiential opportunity for public, charter, and private schools.

Experienced & Seasoned Staff

Our educators are knowledgeable and experienced. They are passionate about outdoor education and love getting kids excited about learning in the natural environment and making real life connections to the classroom.

Field Trip

Most programs are 2 to 3 days in length but can be adjusted to fit your school schedule. One day programs available for local area schools.

Lodging

Lodging for educators, chaperones, and students is included in the program rates.

Meals

Food is an important part of the Earthshine educational experience. Meals are included and served on site in our main dining area.
